Technology Enhanced Enterprise Education (TE3)

TE3 provides funds to develop materials and enhance enterprise education through the use of learning technologies in partner institutions of the Mercia Institute of Enterprise (MIE) in the West Midlands. TE3 is funded by an award from the Office of Science and Technology, via the MIE, as part of the Science Enterprise Challenge scheme.

TE3 partners are Aston University, Open University, University of Birmingham, UCE, Coventry University, University of Keele, Staffordshire University, Warwick University, University of Wolverhampton, University of Worcester, Harper Adams University College, and Newman College. All 12 of the partners are developing TE3 materials and collaborative projects have been set up between Birmingham and Aston; Aston, UCE, and Harper-Adams; and UCE and Newman College.

Since it started in August 2003 TE3 has helped train over 4500 undergraduate students and 350 postgraduate students across the West Midlands; 500 academic and academic related staff are closely involved with the TE3, or have attended TE3 events. Resources have been developed for a wide range of topics including: practical introductions to enterprise, business planning, and health and safety; academic case studies of high technology businesses; and subject-specific support for enterprise in areas such as education, sports and exercise sciences, or for voluntary and community organisations. TE3 teaching and learning projects have also lead to added value outcomes of increased research output and interaction with business and the community.

Materials produced by TE3 funded projects are available for free and unfettered use by all partner institutions for research and educational purposes. Several institutions are now evaluating or using resources developed by other partners. This aspect of the TE3 project has lead to our involvement as principle partners in a JISC DeL project on the use of digital repositories based at the University of Worcester.
