About the Learning Development Unit

The Learning Development Unit supports the University’s learning, teaching and assessment strategy and works with schools to develop and embed innovations that enhance the learning and teaching experience.

Remit

The remit of the LDU is to work with appropriate partners within the University and beyond to:

  • develop and embed innovative approaches to learning, teaching and assessment that enhance the student experience
  • develop procedures for access to systems that enable innovative approaches to learning, teaching and assessment
  • evaluate the student and staff experience of innovative approaches to learning and teaching to highlight good practice and lessons to be learned
  • disseminate good practice in learning and teaching within the University and beyond
  • facilitate professional development of University staff by offering access to relevant transferable skills training
  • build a supportive working environment in which staff are encouraged to develop the skills they need to carry out their roles effectively
  • engage in other activities that support, develop and promote the work of the University
